Salient offers our hindcast catalog for GemAI and Blend on Cloudflare. The GemAI real time forecasts are also available on Cloudflare. These enable direct read access to the source datasets in the Zarr format for efficient evaluation of forecast performance.

Access to the dataset is granted via S3-compatible APIs, with examples provided by Salient to get you up and running as fast as possible rather than calling the API to access years of hindcast data.

The first valid date of any Salient GEM run is always equal to the initialization date.

For example: API for lead==1 will match the values from Cloudflare for lead==0.

Salient v9 Forecasts

• Hindcast period from 2000-01-05 to 2025-01-31
  • The number of forecasts vary by temporal resolution, with daily initializations starting in 2024 for the sub-seasonal forecasts. The seasonal forecasts are initialized weekly on Wednesdays, and the long-range forecasts are initialized on the 15th of each month.
• Forecasts at their native resolution as: weekly for sub-seasonal, monthly for seasonal, and quarterly for long-range
• Spatial coverage of the North America region
• Native forecast variables include: cooling degree days, heating degree days, precipitation, temperature, total solar irradiance, wind speed at 10m
